Wah gak nyangka buku ini bagus bgt !!
padahal udah lama beli, tapi baru kebaca, aslian Margaret Atwood emang the best and prolific living author.
narasinya post-moderenis, it says Grace is unreliable narrator ( belum sampai ke tahap itu sih, soalnya aku rasa pas ia cerita saat bersama Mary cukup dapat dipercaya kalau itu pengalaman hidupnya, bab 21 ini mulai ke cerita yang melibatkan dia dg pembunuhan, get ready

Still made me puzzle : Is External situation in this book like puritan ? How about the institution like penintiary looks like ? Is something vigilance about the murder ? What is actualy the motive, is it strong enough ? Is Grace trully have mental illness ? Why did they just runaway separately ? Or because they didn't accept what Nancy's did ?

The difference between Dr. Bannerling’s examination and Dr. Simon Jordan’s, highlights the development of more modern ideas about mental health, which were still uncommon in Canada at that time. Dr. Bannerling represents the older and more brutal system of mental medicine. He treats Grace harshly and views her more as a criminal or a dangerous object than as a human being with a complex inner life.
