With Chapter 1, it started as a memoir of a woman in her late 70s living in 2013, America wanting to meet her lover from 60 years ago in Tehran, Iran who’s also living in the States now in a senior care, in Massachusetts. She visits him with her husband. And ch 2 onwards the book turns to a flashback from the year 1953 reminiscing the romance and political idealism of Bahman and Roya, the narrator at the age of 17.
