And agreed! About the BBC version. It's soo well done!

I can see where your coming from! Just when I first read Emma I was little and quite annoyed at her from the start of the book and now I feel like maybe I judged wrong! We'll see! BUT yes last night was the first time I watched the BBC version and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!

Oh, well, she's quite unlikable at the start 😅 Austen herself famously said, "I am going to take a heroine whom no one but myself will much like." When I read it, even though she drove me crazy, I couldn't really dislike her because she felt so *real*. Though that probably doesn't make sense. I guess what I mean is that I felt like I understood her because she was so well written. So I more wanted to help her (be less horrible😅) than to condemn her, if that makes any sense 😅

Ohh! it does! That's a great way of seeing it actually.. And your right she does feel so real! Thanks for the insight!! I think I might go into this re-read in that spirit .. And honestly I'm already a hundred pages in and its way better than the first time I read it.
