I felt the same way when I read Pride, Prejudice and Pittsburgh by Rachael Lippincott. The story was good, but the writing felt like any other contemporary novel, which took away from the atmospheric vibes!! 😕

@Josie this is exactly it!! I’ve also felt that way when I read the infernal devices series, which is sooo good except for the modern writing 🫠
aww i can totally imagine. i feel like historical romances today are not entirely accurate HAHA
