Welp the tunnel exit was stumbled upon and the escape came to an end. Most were recaptured fairly quickly.

Fearing the tunnel might be discovered they decided to escape with snow still on ground rather than wait for later in Spring. The process of moving through the tunnel took more time than expected and incurred a couple cave ins that had to be fixed.

The Germans discovered and closed a tunnel.

They’re digging 3 tunnels and have to be mindful of the ferrets—Germans whose role it was to find tunnels. Getting rid of the sand is hard because it’s yellow while the dirt on the surface is gray. Pretty much all the pows have a role though only about twenty out of ~800 know more than their small part.
