Our 1st summer read aloud! Reading out loud to my children is one of my favorite things—I love the discipleship that happens as a result, so many deep and meaningful conversations.
I read this book in maybe 5th or 6th grade. It definitely has more mature themes—alcoholism, abandonment, broken families, poverty. The kids are enjoying seeing a different side of a being a PK than what they have experienced.

I have a signed copy of this. My favorite book when I was a kid (that I genuinely remember)!

Reading it as an adult is wild— so much brokenness in the world, that we just figure is normal as a kid
