So I have recently just started annotating a book for the first time and I didn’t realize how much time goes into this. It’s extremely fun but time consuming. What are some tips that all of you do when annotating? 💛

@yazI don’t get bored with it but I feel like it takes away from the reading. I think I’m understanding more because it takes so long but it would probably take me a month to finish annotating one 😆
I usually read a chunk of the book and then go back and annotate it so it doesn’t take away from the reading.
I think I would have to read the book first then do a re-read with annotating. I also don’t think I would do it with every book but maybe the ones with tons of information or my favorites. One series I thought about doing was the Ravenhood series by Kate Stewart. I first tried to read it but couldn’t get into it so then Ive been listened to it and love it but there is so much information and things going on. The first book was good but the second and third have blew me away but I don’t feel like I’m retaining everything. So I’m curious to see how this continues to go for you!
Read the book. Then re-read and start annotating. If you want, when you read for the 1st time, underline with a pencil what you really think you should annotate in your re-read!
You can always use a random pencil to annotate without putting much effort to the aesthetic details.
I rarely annotate on paper but when I do, I force myself to annotate only when it’s purely necessary. Sometimes, you can read a nice quote and want to put efforts to annotate it but: is this quote really worth it?
At last, I take pictures of the pages I want to annotate during my reading (with the page number obviously), to go back later.
I usually bookmark pages I want to talk about and my favorite quotes, and sometimes leave short notes💛
