I want to like this book, I really do. And I do like it! I love the intricate reflections of coming of age and self-identity. It’s just so slow and at some points too pretentious, although that’s unsurprising in a way. The author is clearly very aware he was like that and maybe still is. That’s not going to stop me finishing it though!
