One of my struggles with Homer is that it sometimes felt like you were expected to be awed at the mention of a king or god. I appreciate that this book, through the main character’s perspective, cuts these otherworldly mythological figures down to human size, treating them all as just people (with more or less power in their different ways) existing in the same space and time.
