Oh dear... I haven't even made it to the 3rd plot point and I am deeply invested in this thick story that has 3 more books to follow... gonna be pleasantly trapped in this story world for a while, I think! Plus new character that I love. However, I will say that there are a LOT of loose details about this world that I still don't understand and want to. S'pose the author's got plenty of time to properly fill me in.

This reminds me of another fantasy I read, with a sort-of similar magic system and a remarkably similar romance. Unfortunately, I liked both in the other book more. However, the tension, characters, and human/conflicted motives are much more realistic here.
