This was such an unexpectedly good book! The politics were great, the magic was interesting, and there were enough twists and turns that I never quite knew what was about to happen. Yes, at times Vaasa’s inability to let anybody in did annoy me, but ultimately it did make sense for her character. A solid 4.5⭐️ and onto the next we go.

Okay I’m having such a good time with this book. Definitely having to keep my brain on to keep up with the politics, but so far it has a great balance of vibes and actual plot.
