I love the mystery of the book covers when I buy Murakami because what could a spiky skull and paper clips mean? I know now

Not a critique of this book but his most recent book has reused the setting of this one — a walled town with golden furry unicorn beasts — and I can’t decide if that’s lazy or clever. He has a penchant for recycling themes and motifs.
What IS lazy is providing a map of the town in this original book but not in the other one, though it kind of makes sense since the other book asks for thoughtful imagination?

He’s terribly weird about sometimes, why is he carrying on about what having sex with fat women is like 😭😭😭 sexist bordering on misogyny
This is the oldest novel of his I’ve read to date, it’s more than 40 years old and he HAS gotten better as time has gone on 🥴 the fact he’s one of my favourite authors despite it is a testament to his talent

It’s not always time for Murakami but when it’s time for Murakami it’s time
