This has been quite a good police procedural and well worth the listen. The setting in 1979 has been most interesting with no mobile phones and no DNA, just police radios and blood typing, and no magical technological breakthroughs!

S-i-i-g-g-h-h...What a sorry last hour of listening this was! The ending was quite unsatisfactory. After an intriguing story, it seemed like the author just couldn't work out how to wrap it up. Disappointing!

After the high-stakes action of "Terminal Lis 06, Only the Dead", I decided to forsake listening to the 'rough London voices' of "Vine Street" and chose an unheard "Tennison - Murder Mile". Set in 1979, Jane has just been promoted to DS

I discovered this unheard book in my collection amongst a bunch of La Plante books bearing lots of 4-Stars ratings.

Berengaria Makes it more interesting when all the magical gadgetry isn't there, doesn't it? The characters have to rely on actual police work than falling prey to the convenience of technology (as so many of us have).

I have La Plante's "Judas Horse" on my physical shelves. Have you read that one or others of hers and do you recommend?

I have 16 La Plante books in my collection and I have read or heard 11 of them, including "Murder Mile", which I will finish and rate tonight (most likely another 4-Stars!). I have rated all her books but one as 4-Stars - the loner was a 3-Stars - so I have obviously enjoyed Lynda's books! However, there is a minor caveat: Until I heard "Murder Mile", I had not read or listened to a La Plante book since late-2018 and I think my rating and review processes may have become a little more critical since back then!

I intend to continue listening to the "Tennison" series as I enjoy the writing and the story-telling, and I would recommend any of them. I still have three more to buy as I need them.

"Judas Horse" is book 2 of the "Jack Warr" series - I only have "Book 1, Buried", but I haven't heard it yet, although the blurb sounds good. I also have "Jessica Russell, book 1, The Scene of the Crime", which also sounds like an interesting proposition.
