Or, at least, the illusion of placation? Humour Theodore instead of intentionally creating hostility and demanding too much in an already fragile situation with the Empress of Obelia and her daughter, his fiancée, Halla, a binding agreement that had already been in the works and was planned to be drawn up before Theodore had ever met Imogen. Kingdoms are peace treaties, potential wars are at stake in all this.

Why does Imogen intentionally rile up Theodore? Surely she can understand the immense pressure his position as KING places upon him. His helping her escape and their binding has only drawn tighter those responsibilities around him and I’d expect, having grown up subject to the far crueler “King” Nemea, she would grant Theodore, ironically as she has sworn her allegiance to him, a little more understanding.
