Finally the book is moving to something more concrete. I felt that half of the book was spent so much on politics (mostly from US) and religion than the problem of meritocracy and the real origin (the author only focuses on the religion influence but it’s clear after the half that it’s more in the way that free market evolved).
Now the author provides more info about how the free market is shaping the society.

It’s so far a very US-centric book. At the beginning, it explains how the “society” (from USA) evolved towards meritocracy and how it is being reinforced.
It used a lot the references to the influence of religion (christian-protestant) and USA presidents' speeches.
