Some of the ideas are interesting, but I find myself incredibly resistant to books that claim “no one can abuse you as much as you abuse yourself”. This is a dangerous thing to say. People are killed every day by domestic violence. Stating that internal self-abuse, which can be incredibly powerful and destructive, is worse than physical or psychological abuse caused by other people is minimising and untrue.
