omg ive been reading for so long my eyes HURT but THE ACTION IN THIS BOOK IS VERY ENJOYABLE, THE HOSTAGES AND JUNGLE ARE CRAZY AND INTERESTING SITUATIONS, and i also REALLY LIKE how deanna is characterized! and the chapter with their intimate "therapy" was actually a very refreshing different angle, finally making riker less unpleasant and objectifying, ironically enough! could this book be turning around perhaps??

god i love lwaxana so much. and deanna has some very good moments throughout a few of the chapters ive read in this session, but my issue is that for each good scene with deanna, there's about 75 shitty gross objectifying moments from riker and roper.... i have crazy mixed feelings about this book so far...

ok since im actually taking a fr break now but have another thought, i will update again even tho just 8 pages later this seems ridiculous.. i FINALLY found some enjoyment out of deanna's perspective switch, and i am delighted by lwaxana just in general<3 i really liked how they were characterized after she properly met riker.. and i LIKED how she stood her ground about him as well! finally some solid troi moments..

mark roper sucks mega asshole. how does this book get more repulsive with each page i turn? so far the sole enjoyment has been from the mentions of lwaxana, data, and any moment deanna has had. when, i fucking BEG, does this book become as good as everyone says it is...?? please god save me from this experience. imzadi so uncomfortable ive become religious. the perverse weirdness really gets to a POINT man.

im trying not to post so many updates (i only try to update whenever im at a stopping point usually) but i am so viscerally uncomfortable reading this book. is this my full, confirmed aroace awakening? stay tuned apparently. my god.

im not even at a stopping point but as i read this i am just bothered by how the women are portrayed a lot of the time.. which is a common issue i tend to have with st books more often than not.. maybe im the friend that's too woke but im not particularly amused by some aspects of this book thus far. interested in the overall mystery and drama though.. so it has that going for it i guess..

man im so confused.. unless it's explained later on somehow, the fact that data is using contractions in his speech is driving me absolutely up the WALL... like he *could* not fucking SAY THAT... but MAYBE IM WRONG and it makes sense somehow... IDK! but it was pmo crazy bad..
