Getting real gruesome

I’m still very much enjoying this. Fitzharris will sometimes allude to how this medical research impacted WWII later on, and it’s making me sad. “a new generation of burned soldiers.”

Wow - just some initial thoughts. Fitzharris writes with such detail and delicacy, so do NOT read or listen to this while eating breakfast like I did!!! Also, the sheer insanity of WWI just hurts my brain and heart. One soldier was maimed by an exploding tank while trying to deliver a message via CARRIER PIGEON. My brain can’t compute that. The mix of old and rapidly new tech is terrifying.
