The first story id very easy to imagine. I could see the black and white setting and the office. I don’t like how the queen was described and the protagonist was a bit under developed. The mystery is solved very easily and it seems he pulled the conclusions out of nowhere.

The seventh story had proper build up and a sad ending. It does leave you with questions, such as why the devil hasn’t taken back her cat? Why is she hurting her cat? Is it her cat to begin with? If so why would she keep coming back to it? There’s also the fact that the family is getting bad luck from keeping the cat from her. It’s an interesting story and I’d read a expansion of it.

The sixth story was very sweet. I think the progression of how the two meet was very natural and it’s a fun twist on the story of the holy grail.

The fifth story made you fell a bit of worry. The story itself wasn’t anything new, but the tone was atmospheric and lonely. I enjoyed the little dialogue at the end, it kind of reminds me that everyone in the beginning were just being siblings.

The fourth story was the best in terms of substance. But I really don’t like how there were no clues given on how he would get the money, but are just expected to figure it out. The protagonist just seems like he has pot armor.

The third story seems like the most nothing burger story.

The second story stared out with a fairy tale sort of feel. Once the protagonist is no longer seven it kinda detached from that mood. I think the ending was nice in how it shows how lonely the troll was and it kind of recontextualized why the troll let him go the other two times. It is nice to think about why the protagonist won’t come out, unlike the first troll.
