Re-read for Notes from Underground, then onto The Double. The narrator of Notes is reminding me of habits I should squash, which is the best thing a novel of this kind can do. A pretty disastrous blueprint of male ego or its lack, and the habits that those extremes can bring you toward—like Kafka’s The Burrow.
