Not much has happened so far. The book is full of descriptive passages, and I'm starting to get bored.

The book is almost over, yet very little has come of U Po Kyin's sinister schemes, which were introduced right at the beginning.

They went back inside the building after the earthquake. It's unbelievable.

That familiar feeling I always get from Orwell is here again—a quiet, underlying sense of unease. There's no obvious tension, but the entire novel carries this persistent feeling that something isn't quite right. The vivid descriptions and charming conversations can't dispel it. And now poor Elizabeth, the young woman, the orphan has entered the story.

Some parts are a bit dull… The story moves somewhere else, away from the city. The man has a mistress, and the mistress has a lover. While walking in the forest with his dog, they get lost and end up in a village. After a couple of strange dialogues, they return home. A bit odd chapter.
