I felt Like I knew Cassie and her family. Black people had been free for 40 years- yet they were still treated as inferior. Their “friend” TJ got Cassie’s mom in trouble and then was unable to work. After that, they didn’t want to be friends with TJ any longer. From the point on- and TJ hung out with people who pretended to be his friend but were out to use him.
