"Pietro unloaded my bags from the carriage with the ease if an ape flinging his faeces about..."

The casual tongue-in-cheek dry humour in this book is sending me. I couldnt even get through the author's note without giggling in the airport.

In his 'A note on the type' section describing the history of the font:
"... when it was rediscovered by a former bishop while erasing some pornography on his hard drive..."

Enjoying this. However, it is not an especially quick or easy read.

It is written to mock many of the gothic classics such as The Vampyre and Carmilla, in which an awful lot happens on an individual page, with limited detail, and winding passages giving historical context to characters as they are introduced, resulting in a kind of verbal whiplash.

Funny, but a lot to process.

After all the gruelling horrors and winding classics I fixate on, this satirical and hilarious take on the experience of a Vampyre is exactly what I needed. Definitely gonna look up what else this author is behind.
