Just through the manhood training chapters, which makes the social construction of gender painfully obvious. Boys are literally beaten into men who are not allowed to show their emotions.

This is such a wonderful book! I read it many years ago, I think when I was in high school and I graduated in 1973. (Not sure when it was published) I still remember a lot of it. It has stayed with me. It is a long book but so worth the read!!
