The prose in the first 3 pages were so painfully purple, I almost DNF. I am glad I kept reading because the pace and story got better after that point. A heartbreaking tale.

I didn't like the MC. Mainly because she loved tormenting her mum as a child and got so much joy from it. A mum who is only 12 years older than her I felt no sympathy for the main character when she got hurt or scared.

The wife was right to be "paranoid" because the husband was having the EXACT kinds of conversations with his mum that she was suspecting?? In the end, SHE is labelled the villain for ruining the house's peace?? It was the husband's fault for making her feel less-than. For not connecting emotionally. It was clear af!
& he thought he ate with that last dialogue 🙄😒
