I love it. Gosh, there's already so much to think about! Before, I had read Goslings (aka World Without Men) by J. D. Beresford, and here the concept is flipped; it's a world of men, with apparently one lone surviving woman. It's fascinating to see a woman writer leave it a world of males, while a man writer wrote of a world of females. Gender stuff aside, Ertz has created a future that has some prescient details...

So of course Stella, the last woman on Earth, is a misandrist, and a bit of an Armageddonist to boot. I mean, warmongering bull-headed men have caused all the women except her to expire, and if I was her, as far as repopulating Earth goes, piss off, men! This book is sort of Russ’s We Who Are About To…, Beerbohm’s Zuleika Dobson, and Aldiss’s Greybeard mashed together. I absolutely love it.
