something refreshingly suffocating about how much the novel focuses on paul’s finances. also i think it’s fun that only now does the narration specify that paul has to eat in order to shapeshift. this specific mechanic never really needed to come up until now, when paul is for the first time forced to be really independent. the ambiguity is intriguing and also useful!
