I can’t stop thinking about this book. I can barely focus at work! I’m obsessed.

It’s been interesting to learn more about Julia. Maybe my nun friend sees a little bit of me in her? I’m still unsure how she sees me in this book, though it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

I think I now talk to myself like an old Brit. Oh well. Our protagonist has taken a turn for the worst, and I’m rather distraught. I do hope his situation improves…. I’m not a fan of tragedies. The war narrative has taken a pause, and I’m interested to see how it will all unfold. A nun friend gave me this book, and I’m still interested to see why.

I’m really having a good time with this book! The writing is beautiful and old and witty. It makes me want to read more old writing. It’s exact and specific. I think as we’ve switched to film and digital media, and certainly with AI, we’ve lost skill in writing. Our vocabularies seem to have shrunk, and it has limited our ability to convey meaning or describe with nuance. I like the plot of this book, too.
