I’m halfway through History of the Siege of Lisbon and it’s been a great experience. it turns writing into irony and questioning, where history is never fixed or innocent. He dismantles official versions and forces the reader to look twice at what seemed certain.
It already leaves me drifting into Google Maps, looking at Lisbon differently, like the city is layered with alternative histories and hidden possibilities.
