The idea for The Ones We Protect started while I was traveling with my wife.

We were sitting in the Las Vegas airport, and I started thinking through one of those “what if” scenarios I tend to run in my head:

What if the grid went down right now, and we couldn’t get home to our boys?

The book grew from there. It’s a post-apocalyptic survival story, but it's also about family and perseverance.
