I did like the book, but it didn't hit the way I thought it would. I did like how there love story unfolded and I am glad how the story ended with them ruling both kingdoms.

The world building wasn't great either but maybe it's because I just came from reading two books back to back with amazing world building and unique plots and story.

There were so things that could have expanded the story and made it better and maybe it would have had a better rating.

I definitely liked how the author wrote that part of there relationship and the betrayal was so good. The plot and conflict and the way the rebellion story line went that was underwhelming, I wanted more.

Mayah betraying him, him finding out, the back and forward of her being a prisoner then of him being the prisoner, the hurt from Zevayr's part and not being able to trust her and forgive her and then finally them getting back together I think that was done good.

The dead of Faramir was underwhelming and the only one that felt satisfying was her dad's dead. The conflict of their relationship and betrayal was good, I felt that pain for Zevayr and Mayah and the hurt and pain they caused each other.

It felt like some things came together to quickly, especially the conflict of taking down the kings, I feel like it was too easy and not enough time was spent in the actual rebellion.

The writing wasn't bad but it wasn't great either, it was average and some things make me question what the author was thinking with some of the descriptions. The overall plot wasn't amazing, it was okay, it wasn't unique.

The writing was clever at times and I appreciated when a book ties together at the end and it makes you go back and think about certain scenes, especially when it came to Zevayr being a truth wielder.

The first half of the book definitely makes more sense now that I know the whole context. There were definitely more things I didn't see coming like Sura and Tumaas being alive, or her dad being a storm wielder that killed her mom, but it wasn't twists that had me with my jaw to the grown, well except what Mayah was planning.
