This book that showcases the corrupt nature of man and his inability to see himself as the monster he truly is before it’s too late. Jekyll wishes for a consequence free life, so he finds himself slowly become (and realize he is) the monster that he has created. This shows Jekyll’s refusal to see his misdeeds as truly his own, as even in the beginning he believes his evil side is not himself at all
