the first section was great (present day) but the flashbacks to childhood and adolescence feel uncomfortably autobiographical for some reason. combined with the lengthy family history it's too much.
the initial vibe of 'woman goes mad and scares everyone' was enjoyable but the middle part 'girl is subjected to misogyny day in day out and puts up with it' is beyond depressing

dear god this is fantastic! i love love love a relatable protagonist with mental health issues <3

this is unusual... it's written in third person but in an odd way. it's not "clinical notes" as such, yet there is a strong feeling it's a mental health professional writing and documenting behaviour of a young woman (who is not behaving as she should). it's raising a lot of questions and intrigue early on... it feels promising...
