The selfish view themselves as cunning, but being truly good demands a more conscious intelligent effort. Yet to the society, a person who is simply honest and kind seems like an idiot.

This is my second try, and not only are there striking, heartbreaking stories I didn't even remember, I understand better why the characters perceive each other the way they do and how Dostoevsky himself understood each character.
