It is hardly surprising that the protagonist, Frank is difficult to accept as a reader. His human-ness, so to say, is reflected in his mundane conversations with his "lunatic" brother, Eric. Eric reminds me of the Mad Hatter in how he engages in the rhetorical and semantics of arguments.
