“When we think of OT religious concepts such as ritual sacrifice, sacred space, priests and their role, and many other areas, we realize the Babylonians would have found Israelite practice more comprehensible than we do.” Reading through this for the first time in ten years, it’s interesting to see now how much the author’s own low church ecclesiology informs his interpretation of ancient Israelite worship.
