I'm most intrigued by the ideas concerning family, history and grief.
Is it better to know the pain you've inherited, or stay oblivious to the suffering the generations before you experienced?
I personally think a child should grow to know the full story of their family tree, but I can't blame parents for wanting to keep their troubled roots buried.

Interesting idea, important topic. Beautifully written. But I struggle to believe anything the characters say would be said by actual people. Instead of a natural progression of events, the text feels like a scripted thought experiment.
The book tries to tell you about actual people, but it tries too hard. I applaud the effort, though, and enjoy learning about Cyprus and its habitants.
