The sudden reveal that the grandson is gay and then the reveal that he has a pug named Bianca Del Rio… not even a pun on her name, just the name of a famous drag queen… okay…

Muriel literally knows these people to be arsonists and literal murderers, why is she acting shocked that they would have her falsely committed to an asylum? Also shocked that Patrick swears “cause he never did on the Telly”, literally WHY would he swear in TV interviews about real estate… Muriel are you fucking DUMB??? 😭

I’m starting to think the only appeal to this author is writing gore cause I saw more effort put into describing that kid’s dick getting melted off than on literally any of the characterization scenes

I’m praying the horror part starts soon cause I can take much more of this stupid, juvenile, cartoon ass character writing. None of the villains speak or behave like actual people and I have to stop myself from skipping any of their scenes because they are DUMB and actively ruin any atmosphere the book has.

These American villains are very cartoonish to me. They aren’t intimidating or even annoying, this just feels like poor writing and a lack of decent characterization. If you’re going to have cardboard cutouts for villains, at least you could make them entertaining or something
