Chapter 1 of The Hobbit was not what I was expecting. Though I didn't truly know what to expect other than reading the master crafted story by Tolkien himself - the man whose writing so heavily influenced modern fantasy. Tolkien's words, phrases, and passages are challenging, yet inviting me to read more about the adventure of Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, and the 12 dwarfs.
