The frequent mention of death feels somewhat comforting. I like how the author jumps from a topic to another but always comes back to it. In a way, that's what life is about. The only thing awaiting you in the end is death. I don't appreciate how people make her feel like a villain for feeling emotions deeply. I dont like reading about twin connections.

I am now realizing the novel is in fact fictive. For the first time in my life, i feel compelled to check out an author's work. The narrator's brother had depression, and I find it was greatly portrayed. I forgot whether I mentioned liking the writing style or not. I do. I found myself being frustrated at times because One diminished Two's love as whiny and intense until he died.

The narrator's brother is the kind of character whose dialogue you want to skip in a doughy romance novel, out of unfiltered, immature hatred. Except this isn't fiction, there aren't any quotations indicating he's speaking and deep down I know I don't like him because he reminds me of myself. I like the pace Jente is writing in. Towers and water are still being mentioned, i like it.
