Tragically beautiful tale of starcrossed lovers, King Charles the 2nd and Lucy Walter. I love the way Goudge creates a version of history that allows for good, even pire intentions. allusions to Camelot and Romeo & Juliette- the price of innocent love in a jealous world. I think Anne of Green Gables would approve.
