I'm not entirely feeling it yet. Sybil seems like a very entitled and condescending lady, but I really like the style of partial insights the reader gets through her correspondences. I'm interested in Daan and want her to continue the never ending letter, she doesn't send.

There were moments, in which my eyes did tear up. It wasn't because of the love between two adults, but because of the love of a mother.
I finished this book and I liked it. I wish I had more context to some informations. I think the reader can only grasp sybil's character as much as she's fond of herself in her letters. That makes her character somewhat unreliable, but the gaps are filled in. Not closed though.

I do not understand this woman :( I can comprehend a few things, but ultimately, I only understand her daughter, Fiona. Sybil says one thing and does another. I'm sure the author intends to frustrate the reader, and works towards a point where everything will fall into place, and then finally, I will feel compassion. But that moment hasn't arrived yet.

Sybil embodies many of my preconceptions about a certain type of old lady. And she's not the cute one. I enjoy reading her correspondence, but it somehow makes it harder for me to recognize the relationships behind the names. And I've read some epic fantasy where others were struggling.
