Lmao! The heroine is just perfect for this book. She's not dumb exactly, but the way she constantly assumes the best of everyone so she's kind of adorably naive and oblivious is just my favorite. I love it because I know her awakening is coming and the anticipation of it all is fabulous.

This was so good and then...it just kinda stalled. Nothing's happening, he's letting her have all this space, there's no more forced proximity, we're not getting anything from her perspective. The film is over, they've spent months apart...idk, this wasn't a great narrative choice. There was so many things that could have happened, but now he just kinda seems like a lost puppy waiting for scraps...

I have to confess that I actually read this 🤫😶🌫️after finishing The Pursuit of Jade on Netflix🫣🤫 - it was like AO3fanfic (don’t ask at my age I still like manhwa Cdrama) I disliked those OW scenes 😵💫 (btw I just saw your comment on Stephanie’s review and I agree with you - his phrasings are spot on! Happy reading!

No judgement, "If I can't have you" by DeathsDoll on AO3 might be one of my most favorite dark romance of all time! I just finished the book up and I feel so incredibly disappointed because I really went in with the wrong expectations. I should have known with a Chinese MMC and a Chinese author that this would follow the eastern narrative of the MMC having to earn redemption and not the western "bad guy stays bad" motif. I only feel so bummed because it started out so good and then just kinda fizzled. I think I was hoping for the next "If I can't have you" and this was definitely not that. Oh well! I'lll sit on it for a day or two and see were I land after a while. I agree, the OW stuff was yucky! Not my cup of tea.
Yup I hear you! AO3 has so many stories 😶🌫️I only did IICHY by DD and started The Community by DD but it takes a while to 👀read because I’m so tired at night that i barely manage an hour or 30 minutes of reading time… have you tried Eskell Manor - I have it downloaded but I believe there is OW scenes after they are together … 😵💫🫣
I've only read IICHY by DD. The rest of her stories haven't appealed to me. I have started "I'd rather die" but I think I'm gonna wait til it comes out completely because there's been a 2 month gap in updates and I just can't handle the wait.
