Solid if you want a quick shot through Japanese history and culture during this time period. Helped me appreciate how much of Japan’s stability and growth was due to American wars in Asia after WWII.

Does not cover Mizuki’s yokai research, though it touches on his own… experiences (or hallucinations) that motivated his encyclopedic work. Overall, fascinating. And the colored pages are stunning.
