They spent a whole bunch of time setting up how starved ThunderClan is for new kits/new warriors, and then a kittypet with 4 kits shows up desperate for shelter. Nevertheless, one cat asks angrily if this is the right time to be taking in new cats. Of course it is! What a dumb, forced dispute. And OMG Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw, get it together. Their circling and complaining about one another is so grating.

Earlier, I thought I was only 66% into this book and I was shocked by that because it looks like I’m nearing the end, but actually I was calculating using the total number of pages of the *other* book I’m currently reading. The moment I realized I’m actually 84% done and not merely 2/3 through was blissful. 😊

I will write my review of Eric Foner’s RECONSTRUCTION eventually, I promise, but in the meantime I’m avoiding it by returning to this read. Not been in the mood for apologetics these last few days, go figure. I am definitely feeling like I’m done with ‘Warriors’ after I finish this set, though. Squirrelflight worrying about whether Brambleclaw is secretly evil is so annoying and is ENDLESSLY repeated. 😒

The last book I read in the series was in March 2025. I don’t think I’m going to read on after I finish the “New Prophecy” sextet, but who knows. Already remembering why I was annoyed with Squirrelflight at the end of the last book. Some important cat dies in this one, per the prologue. I’m kind of hoping it’s Firestar. THAT would be a shake-up.
