Disclosure: I am going into this book knowing all the tea - the drama, the white saviorism, the outrage and fury that a white woman wrote this book. I read the Medium articles, the NYT articles, listened to a convo with Mexican American authors about how they felt. I read her reflection about her identity and how she’s grown as an author. I’m reserving judgment until I finish it.
