Surprised that these are 7 short stories. The link is that there always is an alter ego of Kundera. The scientific assistant getting into a trouble very similar to Kundera's The Joke. The ageing husband still out for the chase but not interested in the prey anymore. The young man getting aroused and angry by a roleplay with his inhibited girlfriend.

The fourth story is about the erotic illusions men give themselves to, what attracts and deters erotic interest.
The fifth and sixth one both share ageing as its subject. A widow of 50 years meets a younger lover again and faces the internal struggle between egoistic lust and maintaining her younger image. The sixth one features one of the doctors from #4, 20 years later and questions what makes us attractive.
