intro, books 1 & 2: 1 although interesting, i believe does not really mean much for anyone other than aurelius. almost like a scrapbook of his traits; every magazine is someone around him who has given him that piece. interesting from a historical lens only i think. 2 expresses his prioritisation of control over one’s mind, a lot about accepting death, that somehow feels phoney, i think he fears death quite a bit.

book 3: a lighter tone than 2, but nonetheless often discusses death/ being prepared for it. a great deal of religious devotion going on but also a lot of devotion to fellow man? and divinity within man? my belief that aurelius is actually quite terrified of death i think is being proven again; he quite often switches between believing we become nothing post mortem, but then also holding some hope of another life?
