“Attempts to enslave the indigenous people failed, as they inexorably succumbed to Old-World diseases…” really? Inexorably? Is that how we’re describing biological warfare? (Ok I know he’s not referring to that point in history yet… but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to mention it later either.)
