Aug 1885 Rock Springs WY massacre at a coal mine over labor disputes killed 28 and wounded 15 Chinese people. White men and women shot, burned Chinese people, burned down Chinatown. I've never heard of this.

Enlightening & super painful to read about numerous incidents of racist murders, hangings committed against the Chinese miners & other workers in CA in the late 1800s. Often Chinese migrants were murdered with impunity.

This neglected topic makes me feel distraught and angry. Therefore I can read in small bits.

Have wanted to read this since mtg the author @ his reading and discussion in late April'26 @ Vroman's Bookstore. But it's full of so many horrible events & stories about anti-Asian violence, that gets systematically denied and erased. I need to recover my calm via frequent breaks.
